Fostering Teacher Motivation through Local Team Building

With specific team building tasks for teachers, teacher motivation & staff development can be fostered.

Professional development can be facilitated in a learn-by-doing, very interactive format, and boosting morale for overworked and underpaid teachers might just be the beginning. Teacher motivation & teacher professional development are our goals.

Other outcomes include:

-- seeing things a little differently with a new perspective
-- handling change optimistically
-- building trust between teachers
-- making wiser choices through professional development
-- appreciating each other's differences and strengths
-- remembering why we chose this profession & boosting teacher motivation
-- turbo-charging our attitudes

Dear friends and colleagues,

Thank you for your willingness to collaborate, communicate and contribute to the work that is being done.
Attached to this blog post is a copy of our yearly agenda. The next step will be that each team selects an area of concern among the areas enumerated in the attached document, and start preparing a folder about it. The folder may contain readings, links to articles, video and/or audio clops and so forth...

The aim is to assemble a considerable amount of materials which can be used for a presentation or a demonstration lesson.

Keep up the good work

Hello Mr Zakari,
I think teachers' isolated and fragmented work does not lead to professional developement. It rather makes teachers feel insecure about their teaching and consequently reluctant to share their experiences.Better teaching and healthier outcomes woud emerge from engaging teachers in teamwork. This is what you successfuly did. These teams will allow for regular and ongoing teacher collaboration and planning..Collaboration and support is what education and learning is about.Supporting one another, learning from one another, and getting feedback from one another, for the benefit of all is imperative to achieve the desired goals.

PEDAGOGIC TEAMS

There is an assumption and almost unanimous consent in the literature that teamwork, embedded in the
Teacher Development Agenda, can promote teachers capability and competence to collaborate and cooperate in group settings, and enhance their communication, leadership, interpersonal, social and critical thinking skills.

We have so far been able to build 3 powerful local teams on a voluntary basis in Guercif. They are as follows:

Zerktouni School Team:

Mr Lakbir Abdesslam
Mr Hayouni Khalid
Mr Ait Hnizzi Omar

Ibn Sina School Team:
Mr Loukili Amar
Mr Azzouzi Abdellah
Mr Bouarfa Bouziane
Mr Bakraoui Rachid.

Hassan Addakhil School Team:
Mrs Sakhkhane Amal
Mr Kamli Ali
Mrs. Bouhaddioui Yamina.

Tahla School Team:
Mr. Mohammed Assetih
Mr. Tijari Said
Mr. Mohammed Dahou
Mr. Abdelaziz Chebbai

Alwahda School Team:
Karima Tiuzani
Saad Mounaim

Overall, organisational, design and developmental aspects are now being considered and TeamWork fostering tasks and activities are being designed.

Thank you Yamina for your report.
